Gunners could be firing blanks

Arsenal FC have hastily stopped selling off seats at their soon-to-be-bulldozed ground after discovering the painted plastic is toxic. The Sun newspaper reports that thousands of Gunners fans paid £19.99 for the red plastic stadium seats, but the sales are to be refunded after traces of cadmium - a highly toxic metal – were found in the paint. Cadmium can be carcinogenic, as well as damaging lungs, liver and kidneys, and reducing fertility. A spokesperson from Greenpeace said: “The plastic could erode over time in the home, releasing highly toxic cadmium dust. These seats should be sent to a special waste landfill site as the best of several bad options. “And with the prospect of Thierry Henry leaving in the summer it’s not only the team who could have been left firing blanks.”
