Neighbourliness or Nosiness

Geordies make great neighbours, reports a new survey for Channel 4 magazine 4homes, with 78% of Geordies regularly chin-wagging with those next door. The survey of over 5,000 people revealed that Geordies come only second to the Welsh in their civilian graciousness, whilst Londoners lag behind as the least sociable group. However, further survey results uncovered a few home truths behind the friendly front – 80% of Geordies admit to coveting their neighbours’ possessions (from paintings to pets!). Moreover, in their quest to keep up appearances Geordies, like the rest of the UK, are now making friends with the neighbours so they can snoop around their homes for inspiration, giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘Neighbourhood Watch’.
