New Local Radio Station Seeks Contributors
A new community radio station in Newcastle is on the look out for individuals and local groups to help run its broadcasts. To encourage local people to get involved CAB radio is going to be running a series of free training sessions covering recording, interviewing, sound editing, programme planning, jingle making, presentation and operating in a broadcast studio.
CAB radio will be broadcast in Cowgate, Kenton, Fawdon and Blakelaw from 13 to 26 February on 107.5 FM. Volunteers will be helping out at two studios, one based in Montagu Full Service Facility and the other at Blakelaw Neighbourhood Centre.
Ulaine Parker, Community Development Worker at the Community Broadcast Initiative Tyneside (CBIT) said: “CAB RADIO is a great chance for local people to create and listen to radio shows about where they live, who they are and what they like to listen to.”
The free training sessions will take place on Tuesday 24 & 31 January and 7 February, 1.30-3.30pm. For more information telephone Elaine Parker on 0191 278 2957 or Ann Dinning on 0191 277 1777.
