Think before you speak
With Dr Simon Raybould, Curved Vision TheatreHere’s a quick and simple tip for figuring out the overall style of your presentation: all too often, people faced with the issue of “having to write a presentation” sit down and do exactly that. Unfortunately, the actual writing bit is the thing they should do last. The next time you have to make a presentation, try thinking of it as like a drink in some kind of container. The drink is the content of your presentation and the container (glass, mug, cup) is the actual presentation and the presentation style. If I offered you a drink, I’d not get out the container before I found out what kind of drink you wanted, would I? Putting coffee into my best cut-glass whisky glasses won’t work and similarly red wine in a cup is just plain wrong! (Although I have been known to resort to it at parties!)See what I mean? Think about what it is you have to say before you even begin to think about how to say it! Short and simple but the effects of thinking like this can really change the way you present! As always, questions to me at sme@curved-vision.co.uk.
