Launch for regional internet TV news channel
Yesterday saw the launch of The bdaily’s latest news service – bdaily.tv. The region’s first business-based internet TV service has signed up ITV news reporter Kim Inglis and radio personality Ingrid Hagemann as lead news anchors to deliver the weekly news synopsis.
This free internet TV service, which was launched yesterday at Codeworks Connect’s Digital Media 360 event at The Sage Gateshead, is a joint venture between bdaily Ltd - which was recently demerged from parent company – creative marketing agency, The bgroup - and film specialist twenty first century media. The new service aims to tap into the burgeoning demand for Internet TV and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) which is estimated to be worth £977 billion by 2010. With its multi-channel availability, some experts also predict that Internet TV could see the end of linear or scheduled TV, over the coming decade.
ITV news reporter Kim Inglis said: “I’m thrilled to be involved with this project. Privately I’m a bit of a technophobe but not to the extent that I can’t look to the future and see the different ways in which our news will be delivered. It’s really exciting to be part of the launch and it’s just fantastic to see innovative moves like this happening in our corner, the North East of England. I look forward to getting some feedback once people start receiving their business news from us.”
As well as an overview of the week’s biggest stories, the new channel will also include business profiling and interview slots, designed to spotlight the region’s organisations and business personalities.
For a taster of what’s to come when the service is rolled out fully at the beginning of November 2006, please click on the red bdaily.tv feature to the left of this screen.
