Mascot reinstated after acting the goat

A disgraced army goat, stripped of its rank after running amok during the Queen’s 80th birthday parade, has been reinstated after shining on parade.

Honorary Lance Corporal William “Billy” Windsor – Army Number 25232301 – was demoted to Private for his behaviour during the 1st Battalion the Royal Welsh parade at a base in Cyprus, Reuters reports.

He refused orders to march and stay in line during the parade - and worst of all tried to headbutt the drummer in front of him, reports the Daily Post.

Billy spent three months in the wilderness before making amends by impressing top military brass at the regiment’s recent Alma Day celebration.

Captain Simon Clarke, of the Battalion, said: “Billy performed exceptionally well. He has had all summer to reflect on his behaviour at the Queen’s birthday and clearly earned the rank he deserves.”
