Style award for Newcastle hotel

A Newcastle hotel has been named amongst the UK’s most stylish in a prestigious hotel guide. Jesmond Dene House joins 41 other properties in Great Britain and Ireland commended for their character, elegant surroundings and outstanding service in the AA’s new ‘Guest List’ guide. The selections were made following reviews carried out by independent, professional food and travel critics.

The Grade II listed mansion at the top of Newcastle’s Jesmond Dene, formerly the home of Lord Armstrong’s business partner, is featured as one of four properties, which reviewers highlight as the best historical hotels in the UK. Critics also commented on Jesmond Dene House’s restaurant, overseen by renowned chef Terry Laybourne, which they recommend for its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients.

Jesmond Dene House is the only venue in NewcastleGateshead to be selected for the guide and joins Seaham Hall, in County Durham, to fly the flag for the North East. The honour follows other recent praise by the AA, which earlier in the year rated Jesmond Dene House as the best hotel in the city.
