Don't mess with "I Do"

The middle of a wedding ceremony is probably not the best time to start making jokes, as Austrian Tina Albrecht found out to her cost. The unlucky would-be bride tried to bring a bit of humour into the proceedings by saying “I don’t” at the crucial moment before correcting herself. Unfortunately, the registrar then called the wedding off, reports Ananova.com.

Under Austrian law, if either party replies to the key question in the negative the wedding is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled for a further 10 weeks, in order to prevent forced marriages. Ms Albrecht (who will probably be saving her jokes for the reception next time) said: “We had to send all our guests home and now we have to wait until March before we can try again. In retrospect it was probably not so funny.”
