NE process industry has a ball
One of the North East’s largest industries held their annual ball this weekend, with over 400 guests attending the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) Summer Ball on Saturday night. The event, at the Newcastle-Gateshead Hilton, was supported by the efforts of local schoolchildren, who designed masks for the ball to raise money for NEPIC’s educational events.
The ball was sponsored by Aesica Pharmaceuticals based in Cramlington. enjoyed relaxing with his industry colleagues at one of the few occasions designed to get business people to bring their partners to celebrate the success of the sector.
Dr Robert Hardy, Chief Executive of Aesica Pharmaceuticals, who sponsored the event, said: “All year round we work hard to make our businesses the best they can be, and through NEPIC we collaborate and have big events on Technical and Business issues, but it really is great to let our hair down at the Summer Ball, relax with friends from the industry and make everyone feel part of a great sector that is vital to the economy of the North East.”
NEPIC also launched its new Graduate Recruitment DVD at the event. Dr Stan Higgins, NEPIC CEO stressed the importance of promoting the sector to university leavers, stating that the region needed to recruit 16,000 new employees at all levels over the next 8 years.
Dr Higgins said: “The NEPIC Graduate DVD, which incorporates footage shot during the ONE North East Passionate People Passionate Places Campaign as well as contributions from young professionals in local companies, is going out to all UK universities, Career Services and Local Schools. This really is a fantastic collaborative piece of work that will help bring in the 8000 graduates that our member companies say they need.”
