Architects build on success with four Lord Mayor's Awards
A North East architectural firm has recently been awarded four of the six Lord Mayor’s Design Awards, a biennial awards scheme designed to encourage, promote and publicise the best in architecture and environmental design in Newcastle.
The ceremony, which took place last Friday, saw Mosedale Gillatt Architects (MGA) win awards for Conservation/Refurbishment, Housing, and Small Scale project. The firm also won the Lord Mayor’s Special Regeneration Award for the collective contribution that two of their projects have made to the Ouseburn area of Newcastle.
Tim Mosedale, MGA Director, said: “To win one of the Lord Mayor’s Awards is a great achievement - but winning four is absolutely fantastic, and we were thrilled when the Council informed us of the good news. It’s very satisfying to see the projects we’ve worked on have made such a difference, and we’re looking forward to playing a part in many more key developments in the future.”
The Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Peter Arnold said: “With strong competition from internationally renowned practices, the 2007 Lord Mayor Design Awards are an acknowledgement and celebration of the developments which have taken place in the city over the last two years. All the winners should be congratulated for succeeding in adding a vibrancy and vitality to the city making Newcastle a more attractive city for us all.”
