College students having a gas with computer games technology

British Gas are using computer technology to share their technical know-how with colleges, gas engineers, individuals and companies.

Fault Finding, Central heating System Controls, Combination Boiler Guide, Part L, Ventilation Requirements and Flueing Requirements make up six e-learning modules available at the British Gas Training Academy.

Dr. Majid Al-Kader, Managing Director of Skills2Learn, which developed the computer-based programmes for British Gas, said: “The e-learning technology used in the British Gas Training Academy is designed to maximise students’ recall. The familiar graphical style training is very engaging and the student can repeat the skill he’s learnt in a safe environment where students can neither harm themselves nor damage customers’ premises. This technology lends itself perfectly to demonstrating practical skills”.
