Altitude recruitment quadruples turnover

A North East creative recruitment consultancy is set to expand outside the region for the first time after quadrupling its turnover in its second year.

Gateshead-based Altitude Recruitment will open a new office in Manchester later in the summer, with a view to servicing the whole of the M62 corridor. The company is also looking to expand into new sectors as part of its development plans.

Created by managing director Laura Maddison in summer 2006, the specialist agency supplies bespoke recruitment services for advertising, marketing, PR and digital media companies. More than 10,000 job seekers and over 500 organisations are now registered with Altitude. It operates right across the country, and has already worked with a number of Leeds and Manchester’s leading creative agencies.

Laura Maddison, who was nominated in the Best Newcomer category at the North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2007, says: “When I set up Altitude, I was fairly sure that the business would be a success, but to quadruple our turnover in our second year is way beyond expectations and a fantastic outcome for the efforts of the whole team.

“Establishing a base in the M62 corridor is a natural step for us and key to our future expansion - both Manchester and Leeds are thriving creative centres, and the numbers of both candidates and agencies that are coming to us have grown significantly in recent months. On the back of our work in the digital media sector, we’re getting increasing numbers of enquiries for more general IT positions, and we’re now looking at expanding into this sector to take advantage of the obvious commercial synergies.”
