Kamicrazy reaches half a million

A Middlesbrough software firm who released a popular iPhone application last year has seen their game reach over half a million downloads on iTunes in the last few months.

Fluid Pixel Limited, a developer of games for mobile devices, released KamiCrazy for the iPhone and iPod Touch in December last year. By 20 December the game had been purchased 100,000 times, and that figure shot to over half a million by January 5.

Available to download on iTunes, KamiCrazy is an action-puzzler described as a cross between Lemmings, Enigmo and Pitfall - where you have to guide a group of soldiers to safety through a series of trap-laden levels.

Stuart Varrall, founder of Fluid Pixel Studios, said: “It’s a fun game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, the style will appeal to audiences worldwide and it’s easy to pick-up-and-play.

“All the developers are very thankful to everyone that has played KamiCrazy, it’s a great feeling to know that we’ve reached so many people around the world. We’re pleasantly surprised to the extent that its connected with a worldwide audience and pleased that it’s been so well received. However we’re not stopping here and are already working on updates to the and even more levels for the game.”

KamiCrazy is the first game released for the iPhone by Fluid Pixel, one of a growing number of game developers based in Middlesbrough. The game is available to download for free as an 8-level Lite version, or as a full 40-level game for just $3.99. Both versions are available in the iTunes online store.
