90 jobs to go at North East law firm

Dickinson Dees has revealed that 15 of its fee-earning solicitors will be among the 90 of its 775 total staff to be made redundant.

The law firm, which has two offices in Newcastle and one each in York, Stockton and London, says the cuts will be made across most of its divisions with property being the worst affected.

Senior partner Robin Bloom said he expected to be able to maintain turnover for the business for the current financial year to be around last year’s £50m.

Mr Bloom said: “We had been budgeting for continued growth but this has not materialised, therefore we have had to trim the number of our people to support the level of business.

“We expect the next 12 months to be hard and the steps we are taking will ensure we are placed to function effectively in this environment. We very much hope this will be all the cuts necessary, although no one can see what the future holds.”
