Year-long merger ends

Following rumours earlier this week, it has been confirmed that North East law firm Mincoff Jacksons has split into its two former practices.

As of 1st October 2009, Mincoff Jacksons LLP will cease operating as Mincoff Jacksons and will revert back to its original partnerships - Mincoffs LLP and Jacksons LLP.

Both firms will continue to operate, with Mincoffs practising from its Newcastle office and Jacksons from its office in the Tees Valley.

The merger has only been in place for a year, and built on a relationship between the two firms, who had worked together before to win work in a variety of sectors.

The combined firm performed well in 2009’s Legal 500 list, achieving high rankings in family law, clinical negligence, commercial litigation outside of Newcastle, and commercial property outside of Newcastle.

Mincoff Jacksons’ managing partner, Nigel Kidwell, said: “The Tees Valley and Newcastle offices of Mincoff Jacksons have been affected by the economic downturn in different and unforeseen ways, changing the aspirations of each party over the course of the last year.

“Both sets of partners agree that it is in the best interests of both parties, their staff and their clients, to move forward as separate businesses with their respective high reputations built up over many decades.”
