North East pair bring ?the Hoff? to the iPhone
A North East based company has brought one of television’s best known celebrities to the iPhone.
Paul Smith and Jon Nairn, founding partners of Never Odd Or Even LLP have worked with Knight Rider and Baywatch icon David Hasselhoff to create Ask The Hoff, an iPhone application available from today.
Promising to answer all of life’s questions, an animated version of the Hoff appears on the iPhone screen. After the user asks their question and shakes the phone, Hoff replies with one of a number of pre-recorded responses, voiced by Hasselhoff himself. Take too long to ask a question, and the Hoff will get impatient.
“It’s a very simple and silly idea, but the potential is huge,” said Smith. “The popularity of the iPhone is increasing day by day, and the Hoff has a big following in the UK and around the world.”
Never Odd Or Even also produced the Instant Cities range of travel guides, another iPhone application. Instant New York was released in February and spent several weeks in the Top 10 of most popular iPhone Travel apps.
“We’ve been working on ideas for the iPhone for over a year,” continued Smith, “and we’re still only one of a couple of agencies in the region that develop these types of applications.”
“iPhone apps are beneficial not only to developers for generating income, but also to companies, events and venues for promotional activity and increasing customer interaction. The number of enquiries from businesses asking for ideas has rocketed in recent weeks.”
