£20,000 reward for turning in pirates

Workers have been offered a £20,000 reward if they shop their bosses for software piracy.

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) offered the money until the end of the year in a bid to encourage employees to report their companies if they believe they are using illegal software.

Alyna Cope, of BSA, said: “Every year we investigate hundreds of companies in Britain for using unlicensed software, and many of them will face the prospect of legal proceedings.”

UK businesses are estimated to install pirated software valued at £1.49 billion every year.
