Top honour for RDA lawyer

AN in-house lawyer at regional development agency One North East has been awarded one of the highest honours in the legal world.

Peter Judge, who is head of legal services and procurement and group secretary at the RDA, has been named the UK’s ‘In-House Lawyer of the Year 2010’ at this year’s Lawyer Awards.

The Lawyer Awards are designed to celebrate excellence in the legal profession across private practice, the public sector, commerce and industry and the Bar.

The awards received the highest ever number of entries this year and Peter’s name was selected by a senior advisory judging panel taken from leading practitioners in City institutions and the media.

Mr Judge said: “I am delighted to be named ‘In-house Lawyer of the Year’. I have always been encouraged and inspired by a number of wonderful people and this award is recognition of their kindness and support.”

Peter, a former mergers and acquisitions lawyer, joined the ranks of One North East in 2003.

He has worked closely with colleagues both in and outside the agency - nationally and internationally - to deliver expert legal support to many high profile projects and initiatives for the North East, including the £125m Finance for Business North East fund, Newcastle Science City and the agency’s property portfolio Onsite North East.
