Mobile technology boosts security firm
A FAST-GROWING security firm has landed a string of new contracts on the back of surging demand for lowcost mobile CCTV units.
Killingworth-based Phoenix Eye, which has a number of high profile security contracts with the likes of Newcastle United Football Club and Newcastle Racecourse, says it has been able to open up opportunities in a range of new sectors with their vandal-proof mobile closed circuit units.
In the last 12 months alone, Phoenix Eye has won a number of new contracts with businesses in the construction industry and now has ongoing agreements with a host of leading construction-related companies, including Laing O’Rourke and Barratt Homes. They are also on site on major demolition jobs for the likes of Thompson’s of Prudhoe, Holystone and Owen Pugh.
The ‘V-Ceptor’ mobile camera units, which Phoenix Eye have deployed on these sites have, say bosses there, opened up a range of new markets for them. Most recently, the trailer-mounted units, whose pictures are fed and monitored directly back to Phoenix Eye’s base, have been installed at fixed and temporary sites across the region.
The rapid growth into the construction industry has helped the Phoenix Security Group, which Phoenix Eye is part of, to a 15% increase in year-on-year sales to £9.3m. Phoenix Eye alone reported a sales increase of some 53% to £2.6m compared to this time last year.
