Moves sees Clarity on growth

ONE of the region’s centres of health informatics has doubled its turnover to £5m and is set to create 20 jobs this year.

Over the last three months, Newcastle based Clarity Informatics Group has shifted from a three-strong client work base to working with 62 Primary Care Trusts and 5000 individual GPs.

The group, which specialises in health information systems, evidence-based healthcare knowledge bases and support systems that help health professionals such as GPs, hospital doctors and nurses make decisions about drugs and patient treatment plans.

A series of recent contract wins with the NHS, the North West Strategic Health Authority, the South East NHS Trust and a healthcare provider in Saudi Arabia is expected to help the group double its income and add to its 50 staff.

Clarity’s CEO, Professor Ian Purves, a former GP, said: “We’re predicting that 2011 will see us increase turnover by a further 50% and we’re fairly confident that even in the current economic climate those plans are realistic, based on the new business we have already secured, plus the market potential for our new products.”

The group has recently moved to bigger premises in advance of further growth, as it prepares to launch new products to the UK and Middle East markets.
