North East firm fizzing with new ideas
A NORTH East drinks firm famous for its fizzy pop is toasting its success with an expansion programme and a new range of traditional family recipes.
Villa Soft Drinks, based in Sunderland, has supplied the region’s children with lemonade and cherryade for more than 100 years and now its future plans have been inspired by its heritage.
Ginger Beer, Sarsaparilla and Dandelion and Burdock form just part of the new range of James Fenwick’s Traditional Soft Drinks and, thanks to help from Taste North East, the drinks have proved a big hit with local shoppers following their launch last November.
As well as being sold through small retailers across the region, the range is also being stocked in North East branches of supermarket giant Asda and is soon to be available in its Scottish stores.
Ian Blair, business development manager for Taste North East, said: “We were delighted to be able to help Villa Soft Drinks expand its number of outlets.
“It’s a much-loved North East institution and it’s great news that Scottish families will soon be able to enjoy its drinks, too.”
