From Washington to Washington

Eight software firms from across the region are heading to the states this week in a bid to open up new opportunities with leading players in the global software industry.

Representatives of local companies SaleCycle, Artigence, Teflabs, Guroo, LamasaTech, Viper, The Test Factory and Pagination are taking part in the 17,000 mile round trip, where they will be given the chance to explore new markets and meet new customers.

The trade mission led by Sunderland City Council and Sunderland Software City will aim to display both the growing strength of the regional software industry and the area’s potential as a base for international software companies.

Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Watson said: “Some of the companies on this mission are already selling their products and services into the huge North American market.

“The very fact that there are companies able to do this is a demonstration of the strength of the software industry in Sunderland and our region.

“These missions are a great benefit for companies to access global markets and be more successful.”

The firms will first head to Seattle WA before moving on to Washington DC, where they will take part in a series of events which will include the DC and North Virginia Tech Councils and associations of local technology companies.
