Arriva to increase single tickets fairs
WORKERS from across the region could be hit by further travel fair hikes after a North East bus company announced plans to increase the price of single fairs.
Arriva said there would be a change to most fares from this Saturday, with more than 98% of single fares increasing by 10p or less.
There will also be some new weekly tickets introduced in the Tyne and Wear, Morpeth, Ashington and Blyth areas.
The company said the changes would have minimal impact on customers “at a time when finances were tight”.
Arriva said the new weekly tickets built on the success of the Day Triple tickets and would “provide substantial savings”.
A weekly ticket from Blyth to Newcastle used to be £23 - the new weekly ticket will cost £20 to travel between the same two points.
