Boom time for promotions firm
A fledgling digital firm which encourages people to buy goods and services from businesses in their local area is set for expansion after enjoying a bumper first half-year of trading.
Spotlight Offers was launched from its Redcar base last July as an advertising vehicle to help businesses in the area attract trade from local residents.
The website, and its affiliated magazine, hosts vouchers for goods and services across Teesside and has already grown its base of unique users to 20,000 and expanded its North East presence.
The magazine is largely delivered to residential areas around Redcar, including Marske, New Marske, Saltburn, Brotton and Loftus and within five years is expected to be rolled out to other areas of the country.
Spotlight was set up by husband-and-wife team Victoria and Neil Ridgway, who were inspired to enter the digital and publishing sectors because of the lack of good quality, low cost advertising available to localised businesses.
Mrs Ridgway said: “We have low overheads and a lot of good ideas always flowing, and we always take our advertisers feedback on board which I think is essential to help any business grow.
“We hope to be able to spread the website’s coverage throughout the North East and to increase our promotional campaign so that more businesses join us with great offers for their customers.
“Eventually we would like Spotlight to grow into a national brand, to help small businesses keep growing across the UK by targeting potential local customers.”
Spotlight’s magazine has six annual editions featuring vouchers designed in-house, which also appear on the website, www.spotoffers.co.uk.
The site allows users to download an unlimited number of vouchers to share among family and friends.
