Koru looks to further growth

A North East construction company is targeting continued growth and job creation over the next few years having achieved an annual turnover of £9m.

The firm - which employs 50 members of staff - is now looking to take things even further over the next five years, growing the turnover to between £12m and £15m and creating up to 25 more jobs in the process.

Mark Taylor said: “The last few years have undoubtedly been tough, and business confidence remains fragile.

“We are where we are by providing the right sorts of high-quality services that clients demand and are very confident that we’ll be able to take this on in the years to come.”

Koru was set up in 2002 by Tony Henderson, Neil Reed and Mark Taylor, an experienced team of directors that had previously been the regional managers for a major national construction company.

The Team Valley-based firm’s projects are within the region, which include the construction of new offices for Citizens Advice Bureau Gateshead, an NHS refurbishment at Felling Health Centre and a new Refuge Facility at Saltburn for Four Housing Group.

Koru secured two investments totalling £350,000 from regional fund management firm NEL Fund Managers in early 2005 and late 2006.
