Food supplier to create 100 jobs
A seafood supplier has confirmed it will develop additional manufacturing capacity and create more than 100 new jobs.
Cumbrian Seafoods, based at Foxcover Enterprise Park at Seaham, will reportedly convert an existing 130,000 square feet of storage space into a new seafood manufacturing facility
The development – which represents a further £7m investment in the site - will be largely powered by wind, photovoltaic cells and gas from anaerobic digestion.
The company has been granted funding from the Regional Growth Fund as a result of a public-private sector partnership between Cumbrian Seafoods and County Durham Development Corporation
The firm established its Seaham site in 2007 where it manufactures a range of prepack seafood products for the UK’s major retailers.
The company has already invested over £20m in the facilities and employs 500 staff.
