Gateshead digital firm and recruitment agency team up to make life easier for job seekers
A Gateshead based digital agency has helped develop a mobile version of a website that helps job seekers keep in touch with the latest vacancies using their smartphones.
The new mobile site was developed by Industrial Strength for North East recruitment company Concept Personnel.
The move came after web analytics showed that the number of mobile visitors to the Concept Personnel site, which covers jobs in the advertising, marketing and digital sectors, had trebled in the last six months.
The new mobile site analyses what handset is being used and directs the user to the best format for their model.
Users can view a list of the latest jobs across all categories, or search by job, keyword, or category.
Simon Clayton, business development director at Industrial Strength, said: “Viewing a full website from a mobile can be a frustrating experience. We knew from analytics what make of handsets were being used to access the website, so we were able to optimise the mobile version for all the most popular brands.
“The business logic we produced for the main website was all reusable, so it was simply a case of adding another presentation layer in the form of a mobile version.”
The designers have included some user friendly features such as opening up the Google maps app if the consumer clicks on the location of the job.
Concept’s managing director Jo Carter added: “We could see that mobile visits to the website were rapidly increasing in line with the industry trend, which is seeing all the big jobs boards reporting a surge in hits from mobile users.
“The jobs market has never been harder than it is at the moment, so the launch of our new mobile site is designed to make job hunting easier and faster for our candidates.”
