Local firm invests in apprentices

A local electronics firm is celebrating the recruitment of three new apprentices.

Stadium Electronics in Hartlepool set up the three-year apprentice scheme after recognising the skills shortages permeating through the electronics industry.

The scheme will give the apprentices the chance to undergo training across all areas of stadiums operations including electronics assembly, product testing, circuit design, finance and purchasing before specialising in one discipline.

Robert Lowe, engineering director at Stadium said:

“It is important to invest in the future of both the company and the wider UK electronics industry by providing opportunities for some of the best young talent around.”

“Apprenticeships not only help young people succeed at every level in their career, businesses benefit too through a professional and knowledgeable workforce.”

Assistant principal of Hartlepool College of Further Education Steve Wallis has also spoken out about the benefits of the scheme, when he himself experienced when he worked for Stadium. He stated:

“I went through a similar process myself when I worked as a junior engineer at the company and the experience has been highly valuable to my career in both engineering and training. No doubt the apprentices will get exactly the same benefits.”
