Growth of Stockton manufacturer attributed to staff.

A factory in Teesside has announced plans to almost double its workforce when it moves into its new premises, creating over 100 jobs.

Nifco UK, a Stockton-based manufacturer has attributed its growth to the investments the company has made to the quality of its staff. All of the staff at the plastics factory have been supported through at least a NVQ Level 2, and over half of the staff have been promoted since joining the business.

Investors in People (IIP) recently presented the company with a Bronze Award in leadership, in recognition of its employee development services. This award is designed to help organisations and their people enhance worker performance and meet business goals.

Mike Matthews, managing director of Nifco UK said: “We have invested heavily in our team over the last few years, and we absolutely believe that this has turned our business around.

“The growth we have seen has been dramatic and this has allowed us to rebuild shareholder confidence and secure investment that we believe will safeguard the future of the business for at least the next 20 years.”

The enterprise, which has an annual turnover of more than £30 million, produces parts that are used in almost ever car made in the UK. The rapid expansion of the business has recently led the company to announce plans to move to a bigger £8.5 million premises near Eaglescliffe.
