New recycling system for Tees Valley
Tees Valley Councils are joining forces with a local refuse firm to make recycling even easier and more efficient in the area.
J&B Recycling will now serve 74 sites on behalf of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland. The company are the biggest single operator ever to be appointed to deliver the service across Tees Valley.
The new sites will also feature more than 340 new containers and more frequent collections, which will deliver a more economic and efficient service for the areas. The new sites will also be located in easily accessible locations such as supermarket car parks, and it is hoped that this will reduce congestion and ensure materials are collected effectively.
A spokesman for the authorities said: “We’re delighted at the successful co-operation between the five Councils and the benefits of going into partnership with J&B recycling, working together across the region to offer more streamlined, efficient and user-friendly service.
“People are keener than ever to recycle as much as possible of their household waste, and do their bit for the environment.”
By joining together, the councils will also improve efficiency and save money, as the same service will be available across the five authority areas.
