Mark Easby shares his journey so far with Better Brand Agency
What key challenges has your company recently faced?
Better is still a young agency. It’s been a challenge to establish our business and reputation over the last 3 years however we’ve built an ambitious team and a strong brand in order to compete in a very competitive sector.
We have also recently developed and launched a new private online market research and co-creation platform, Better Communities, in partnership with another North East based business (Explain).
The key challenge we’ve faced is in ensuring that we continue to grow Better, the core service based business, and maintaining the level of service we have built our reputation on, while bringing Better Communities to market which is going to give our business long term sustainable revenues.
What is your biggest achievement over the past 12 months?
Our biggest achievement over the last 12 months is developing a successful partnership and launching the Better Communities. We’re proud to say the platform was conceived, privately funded and developed in the North East. We’re also very excited to announce we now have the first 3 national clients on board and the product is receiving a lot of interest from across the UK.
What is your biggest focus for the coming year?
Our focus is going to be two fold. We have a team dedicated to growing and managing the growth of the Communities side of the business to access new markets and customers across the UK. We will also continue to build our core brand agency business to build on the strong foundations and client base that have been built up over the last 3 years.
If you had to choose one top piece of advice for someone just starting out in business, or is currently operating within your industry sector, what would it be?
Understand the market, understand the figures and be confident in your idea.
Can you share with us your view of the current landscape of business, in this region or generally and where your organisation sits within it?
There is so much talk of the bad times we’re going through and it can be very easy to be negative, but that’s not how we feel. The creative and digital sector in the north east is continuing to grow and there are some very exciting and innovative companies that the North East region should be proud of. We see companies like ourselves partnering to build innovative collaborations and create new opportunities for themselves. We are confident that the great businesses that deliver innovative products and services while continuing to provide value and ROI to their customers will not just survive but thrive in the current climate. It’s a very exciting time for the sector and the region.
