SITS Group flourishes in Scotland
A Newcastle-based technology company has landed a prestigious five-year contract with a marine transport organisation after taking advantage of a lack of Scottish competition in the area.
SITS Group is now set to work with GulfMark Offshore, a marine transport organisation based in Aberdeen to modernise its IT infrastructure with the latest computer server virtualisation technology.
The abundance of oil companies in Aberdeen and the surrounding area present a great opportunity to SITS, who are now keen to increase their volumes of Scottish business.
SITS Groups’ commercial director Phil Cambers said: “Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe, with around 500,000 people employed in the supply chain of an industry that could well be at the forefront of rebuilding the economy.”
“With Aberdeen just an hour’s flight away, it made sense to put resources into expanding our offering over the border, and some of our technical staff are now working up there on a regular basis.”
The company now hopes to grow its team and has already moved to a bigger base on Quorum Business Park to give it nearly a third more space. Phil now aims to hit a target turnover of £2 million by the end of 2012.
“Around 80% of our business is here in the North East, but its always been our long term plan to carefully expand into nearby regions by the end of year three, which we are currently approaching,” Phil added.
