RWE site gets approval in North Sea

Plans for the development of the Breagh gas field in the North Sea have been approved according to an official from RWE Dea.

UPI reports that the British Department of Energy and Climate Change approved the German energy company to operate in the natural gas field in the south of the North Sea.

This is a big boost for RWE and will allow them to produce more than 70 million barrels of oil equivalent by 2016.

It is also positive news for the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, as RWE Dea have decided to invest in the field despite the 10 percent tax increase on oil and gas.

RWE are also investing in another gas field and approval for the next phase is expected to be due early next year.

The Breagh field is about 60 mils off the North East coast, and it is believed that the development will require the construction of a pipeline to a processing plant on the shire.
