Graduation Success

Yesterday saw the final of five days of celebrations, as students from Northumbria University graduated in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This year the University hosted graduation ceremonies at their new state of the art facility, Sport Central, located at City Campus West.

The stunning new sports facility on the site of the former Northumberland Building Annexe provides some of the most outstanding fitness, training and research facilities in the country.

Having worked on the event for a number of years, events, production and communication company, R&B Group found themselves up against stiff competition when the change of venue meant that the University invited a number of suppliers to quote for the contract. However, they were delighted when the results were in and they were awarded the contract to continue to provide production services and technical support for the graduations ceremonies.

A temporary theatre space was designed and the technical solutions installed. R&B Group worked with the University IT department to project the name of each of the 4,500 graduating students onto the large screens, as they proudly took to the stage to collect their scroll.

Project Manager Mick Storrie, “It was fantastic to be awarded the tender. With three ceremonies per day it was a busy time but it’s great to be involved in such a prestigious local event, ensuring the day was a happy and memorable experience for all.
