Muckle seal the deal for Green Energy provider
Local law firm Muckle LLP are doing their bit for the environment by supporting the creation of one of the UK’s first and largest solar parks.
The firm was instrumental in the procurement of the Moor Solar Park in Lincolnshire, the plans for which were almost jeopardized by the governments recent u-turn on financial incentives for solar power schemes.
Any scheme bigger than 50 kilowatts were given the short deadline of August 1 2011 to complete their applications to ensure they were eligible for the original scheme. The project in Lincolnshire represented a £10 million investment, which would’ve been lost, if it weren’t for the expertise of the team at Muckle LLP.
Peter Smeaton, director of Moor Solar expressed his gratitude for the lawyers at Muckle, who helped Moor Solar drive through complicated legislation and tight deadlines.
He commented: “ We needed support that had the technical knowledge to make a scheme like this happen, that were capable of dealing with the City lawyers engaged by the investors and, crucially, who would take a no nonsense approach to the challenging but critical deadline.
“I am absolutely delighted with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Muckle’s energy team to any other business looking for this specialist advice.”
The Moor Solar Park was one of less than 20 schemes which met the governments deadline, and will now generate enough electricity for 5.600 homes annually.
Steve McNicol, managing partner at Muckle LLP added: “ “This was unchartered territory and as one of just a handful of projects like this in the country Peter should be very proud of what he has achieved.”
