Sweet music for Ward Hadaway in groundbreaking deal

Experts in music law at Ward Hadaway have helped bring together two very different musical genres in a groundbreaking deal.

Carol Isherwood, a member of the Creative Industries team at the firm advised composer Joe Duddell on the contract between the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and dance producer Nero’s record company Mercury.

Following the deal, the two were able to link up for the Dubstep Symphony, where the two performed together in a concert which was subsequently broadcast on the BBC.

Carol Isherwood said: “This was a fascinating project to be involved with and I am delighted that we at Ward Hadaway were able to play a part in bringing it together.

“Matching classical music with a dance music style like dubstep may seem like a real left-field concept, but it worked really well and the results were fantastic.”

The Creative Industries team at the firm have previously advised musicians, producers, record labels and management companies on a wide range of matters including publishing contracts, recording contracts and merchandising agreements.
