Showcasing the finest kitchens, producers and retailers from across the North of England, the Northumbria Food and Wine Festival is will feature a fantastic array of pop-up restaurants, cookery demonstrations, live music, wine talks and tasting.
Visitors at the festival will be given the opportunity to learn about food and drink, sample fantastic produce and to purchase top quality food and drink.
Organiser Stuart Colmer decided to start the event after growing tired of travelling to London for wine exhibitions, and decided it was time people could enjoy a quality event in the North East.
He said: “What we’re trying is something different, we’re offering this great food and wine experience in the North East where people can really learn.
The festival takes place between 7-9 October at Tynedale Park, Northumberland and will feature exhibits from the likes of The Feathers Inn who have just won Best Gastro Pub in Yorkshire and North East Region 2011 and Great British Pub of the Year.
Owner and Chef Rhian Cradock was excited to be working with the festival.
He said: “I love getting out from behind the kitchen and meeting people and talking with them about my two favourite subjects, food and wine!”
As for drink, wine merchants Fasol Menin come from the heart of Prosecco growing area, Valdobbiadene.
The winery has won awards for both its Cama and Leonte proseccos, which are now available through the vineyards’ UK partner Stuart Colmer.
Tasting master classes will be held by Newcastle Wine School and respected wine writer and educator Helen Savage will give talks.
Sponsorship for the event comes from Tynedale Rugby Club, the Hexham Courant and Strategies to Solutions.
