UKTI takes North East firm into the Middle East
A local environmental firm is expanding its reach into the Gulf, thanks to the assistance of the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Virtual Export Manager Initiative.
EPA Ltd has spend the last 13 years developing integrated pollution prevention control, waste incineration and emission monitoring services, and serves a range of industry sectors both in the UK and overseas.
Through the Virtual Export Manager Initiative, the company are now exploring opportunities in the Gulf region. The firm was paired up with Malcolm Wright of Spectrum Consulting, who helped them to identify opportunities and develop strategies for growth.
Charles Bell, Director at EPA Ltd, explained: “Matching us up with Malcolm Wright gave us access to his vast experience in this market which gave us a valuable insight that would not have been available otherwise. This has enabled us to understand the market, where the opportunities really are and, more importantly, to develop them into new business for the company.
“And through the visits we have already made we’ve developed important relationships with potential business partners and it’s clear there is massive potential for further business for us.”
Malcolm added: “VEM is designed to support companies that are first time exporters or those more experienced companies that wish to expand into new overseas markets.
“It complements and builds on the work of the International Trade Advisers (ITA) by providing hands-on support through the placement of a suitably experienced business professional, who are matched to suit the company’s individual needs.”
