Member news: New MD Crafting Bespoke Joinery’s Business Growth

Bespoke joinery company Crafted & Co has appointed a new senior team to lead its expansion into new markets and will be led by Managing Director Ken Smith.

The company, formerly known as Contract Joinery plans to expand further into the leisure, retail, commercial and residential markets, where premium bespoke joinery is increasingly sought after. Ken will lead the business expansion along with Operations Director, Tony Graham and Production Director, Michael Morrit, who have over 75 years combined experience in the construction services industry.

Established in 2006, the Gateshead-based business now employs a team of 40 highly-skilled local staff at its 25,000 sq ft workshop and has a current turnover of £2m.

Crafted & Co already has a strong client base of national bar and restaurant chains for whom they have created a range of handmade furniture and woodwork. These include, JD Wetherspoon and Inventive Leisure Ltd with its bar chain Revolution.

Recently completed projects include a premium quality ‘throne’ centrepiece for in JD Wetherspoon in Bulwell, Nottingham and a stunning Cuban-inspired bar for a brand new Revolution bar in Blackpool.

Ken has extensive experience as a joiner having started his career as an apprentice over twenty years ago.
