Npower fined for complaints mishandling
Energy giant Npower has been fined £2 million by Ofgem the energy regulator for failing to handle customer complaints properly.
The BBC reports that Npower did not record customer complaints properly and failed to pass on details of unsatisfied customers to the Energy ombudsman,
Npower have now rectified all breaches they were fined for, but were unavailable for comment.
British Gas were fined for the same offence in July, and EDF Energy are currently under investigation.
Ofgem now hopes to impose sweeping reforms for the retail market, in a bid to “restore consumer trust in an industry tarnished by poor supplier behaviour”’
