Keeping it Super Simple: Nick Reavill tells Bdaily about his online shopping venture
After setting up a simple website for a small independent retailer, Nick Reavill saw a gap in the market – and decided to set up Super Simple Shop.
“A lot of small businesses and start ups can’t justify the costs of having a website built and don’t understand the technology behind it to design one themselves – so we decided to do it for them,” explains Nick.
Along with business partner David Shapero, the pair developed a product that would remove barriers to online retail for independent sellers.
“A lot of our clients are hesitant to go online or have traditionally used eBay, so the challenge now is to show them the benefits of our product.
“Paypal and contacts are integrated into the system, which means it’s incredibly easy for retailers to maintain.”
Both come with a wealth of experience in IT development, having worked for a division of the Discovery Channel, The Louvre and the Vatican before setting the company up in 2010. Since then, they have worked tirelessly to show businesses the benefits of their product.
“There are similar offerings out there, but the difference between them and Super Simple Shop is that we charge a flat fee and take no commission on sales.
“It’s a simple idea, but one which we believe could be of real benefit to small businesses.”
Indeed, selling the idea of the product has not been easy for the pair, whose client base is largely located in the North East.
“It’s not always a smooth ride, as due to the nature of the business we need to attract large volumes of clients.
“However, we have no large overheads which keeps costs low and should also help us to grow organically.”
They are now working closely with business support agencies to help businesses sell their products online.
“It’s pretty stressful, but exciting too,” Nick concludes. “And the most important thing is to just keep on trying, and making sure you’re enjoying it too.”
