Member news: Capita Partners With Veritas Vision To Help Further and Higher Education Sector Turn Data into Information
Capita’s further and higher education business has announced a new partnership with Veritas Vision, a web-based business intelligence reporting platform for higher and further education managers and leadership teams interested in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Chris Cooper, operations director at Capita, says: “When things are constantly changing, as they do in this sector, it’s vital to take control and understand how every area of a college or university is performing. Veritas’ Intelligent Dashboard complements the services we already offer to help institutions enhance the student experience and meet the challenges of an evolving market. Being able to get a holistic view of your institution in just a few clicks and tailored to your exact requirements means senior management teams are kept firmly in the driver’s seat.”
Veritas Vision delivers an overview of an organisation’s important real-time metrics, which can then be grouped together and drilled down to examine the underlying detail as required. For example, leadership teams could combine data held in HR, Payroll and other systems to look at how effective their staff utilisation is. By aggregating full-time contract information against planned and/or delivered hours, colleges can see how many hours are being covered by part time staff. ‘What if’ scenarios could then be applied to the calculation to see what would happen if there was a percentage reduction in the difference. The result would be an indicative cash value of savings that could be made.
The business intelligence tool links in to all the different data sources an institution uses, including Admissions, Human Resources, Finance and Student Records, and collates them as though they were one system. Historically, bringing together all this information has been a difficult and time-consuming process, taking someone all day if they could do it at all. With Veritas Vision it is possible to connect to the relevant data sources, write a query and display a personalised report in under an hour. Use of Capita’s own UNIT-e student record system is not a pre-requisite as the solution will work with most management information systems.
All information is presented in highly-animated, colourful dashboards which can be navigated by touching the screen, emailed directly to key personnel or exported into PowerPoint to make interactive presentations. Quick implementation is a key feature, and the solution is designed to be as user friendly as possible. Consultancy services will be provided for installation and, while little training is required, customers will have access to optional further consultancy support.
The partnership gives Capita the resell rights to the FE and HE sectors. Neil Martin, managing director at Veritas Vision comments: “We are very excited about this new business relationship. Capita’s experience, trusted reputation and in-depth understanding of the wants and needs of the further and higher education markets make them the ideal partners to introduce our dynamic business intelligence solutions to the sector.”
