Wireless specialists branch out the North West

Wireless network specialists, KBR have spotted an opportunity to expand their market share, by expanding into the North West.

The move follows a successful project for Northumberland County Council, which connected local authority offices via a cost effective resilient wireless mesh.

After working with other local authorities in the North East, KBR now believe the cost savings this solution achieved, could benefit councils across the country.

Michael Wilkinson, sales director at KBR, said: “We identified an opportunity in the North West after completing the Northumberland deployment, which proved to be very beneficial for the region as it resulted in the council achieving hundreds of thousands of pounds in cost reductions.

“We realised that there were many councils throughout the UK that could benefit from savings by replacing expensive leased lines with our more cost effective and more resilient wireless network solutions, and we look forward to working with these local authorities.

“Our location in the North West is ideally placed to expand the business further.”

The company’s new Chester office will be handled by new appointment Paul Bright, who will act as new business sales executive.

He said: “I am thrilled to have been chosen to head up KBR’s operation in the North West and I am confident that there is a significant gap that we can fill in the market here.

“Cash-strapped local authorities are all facing the same issues in the current economic climate, with KBR’s previous successes in driving down costs and expertise in delivering connectivity through wireless mesh networks; I believe that we have a valuable service to offer the public sector.”
