£1bn scheme helping NEETs welcomed by local firm
The government announcement of a billion pound scheme to get young people back into the workplace has been welcomed by the managing director of the TTE Technical training Group.
Steve Grant’s company currently supports more than 650 young people in technical based training, and believes that the introduction of subsidies will help more businesses support apprenticeship schemes.
He commented: “This is excellent news for young people and the industry and shows that the Government want to proactively address unemployment.
“Any support to get young people into employment is extremely welcome.”
Steve now hopes that the cash boost will help to avoid the creation of a lost generation of youngsters who have no skills and no work.
Steve continued: “I hope that the subsidies that are being offered to companies will encourage more employers to see the benefits of having young people working in their businesses.
“It should lead to these businesses turning these young people into apprentices providing individuals with a structured skills path for the future, which will benefit both employees, employers ad the UK economy.
“While the Government’s new scheme will hopefully create jobs, apprenticeships will transform them into careers.”
