Google Headquarters Planned in Kings Cross

It has been reported by Property Week that Google is in advanced talks with Argent over the 8million square foot Kings Cross Central scheme.

The scheme aims to create a giant campus between the new Kings Cross station ticket hall and Regent’s Canal. With light of the Eurozone debt crisis, it is thought that Argent are in need of an equity partner, and who better than the global search engine giant?

It is understood that Google have ruled out potential office space locations including Battersea Power Station, The Shard, Paddington Central and the Olympic Media Centre in favour of Kings Cross Central.

The proposed headquarters will take up 20% of the office space element within the 8million sqft development. Google’s pre-let would take five business centres at the south-east corner of Kings Cross Central, from plots A1 to A5, which covered a total of 733,800sqft. The largest office environment would be 195,000sqft within the A5 business centre which overlooks the new Granary Complex and Regents Canal.

Before plans are finalised, Google must receive approval from the US board, which is reportedly slow due to the wider economic picture.
