Software developers’ chance to connect in Europe

Details of next year’s European Independent Software Vendor Convention have been announced.

The 5th annual ISV event is set to take place at the Grand Hyatt in Berlin on March 1, 2012, with support from industry majors such as Oracle and SAP.

Three key issues will be addressed throughout the conference; mobility, harnessing the Cloud and business intelligence.

Such issues look to become the focus for the application development industry over the next five to ten years.

Building for an array of mobile devices, extending functionality and accelerating application development, and how to leverage advances in business analytics, will all have a dedicated session at the conference.

They will be followed by the ‘Big Debate,’ a moderated panel discussion which will examine the implications of some of these trends and the issues arising from them, including emerging new business models and the challenges of positioning and differentiation.

Alan Norman, managing director of IT Europa, said: “Over the years the European ISV Convention has become established as the leading forum at which leading European ISVs can meet at director-level and discuss key issues amongst their peers and with leading vendors and platform vendors and platform technology providers.

“Innovation in application development is critical to the success of both the IT sector and European industry in general, so it seems appropriate, in view of the current challenging economic environment, to focus the 2012 convention on they key trends and technologies that look set to drive growth in application development for the next decade.”

Among the sponsors presenting at the conference are Oracle, SAP and Jaspersoft; all companies who are driving application development in the European market.

The winners of the European Software Excellence Awards 2012 will also be announced at the evening.
