Footwear and accessories retailer KC Mode Ltd were honoured on Tuesday night at the North Tyneside Business Awards, by being made a finalist in the Retailer of the Year category.
Director Kanchan Chadda attended the awards along with other finalists, which recognised excellence in the retail category, given very tough trading conditions in North Tyneside, as well as in the economy as a whole.
Mrs Chadda said she was honoured the Company been named a finalist for such a prestigious awards ceremony and was proud the Company’s achievements to date have been recognised.
The business started three years ago with a small unit in Wallsend InShops, and has grown rapidly since then, moving location twice before occupying their own designed premises on High Street West in Wallsend earlier this year, under the brand name “Accessorise Me”. The business has breathed fresh life into the town, bringing a fashionable alternative to Newcastle City Centre, offering a range of top women’s and children’s footwear brands including Clarks, Caterpillar, EMU Australia, and Lelli Kelly. For the accessories shopper, big names including Fossil, Mischa Barton, Kipling and Superdry have got on board already, and Mrs Chadda is confident that more big brands will follow in the next 12 months.
As well as trading from the bricks and mortar store in Wallsend, the company’s online business (www.kcmode.com) continues to grow, in spite of a very challenging retail environment.
