A Very Green Christmas Gift

After deciding to create a window display to rival that of Fenwick, the team at Intimation Creative took inspiration from the most unlikely of places - a cardboard box.

Intimation work closely with Durham Wildlife Trust on marketing and design, and when Trust Director Jim Cokill came to them for advice about what to do with their waste cardboard, they had the perfect solution.

“We decided that it would be a good idea to use the donated card to create a festive window display, and along with waste from other clients including Kinesio Taping UK and Quorum Business Park we decided to transform the studio windows,” explains Andy Smith, director at Intimation Creative and manager of Intimation’s Gateshead studio. “And the creative team quickly got thinking to create something out of nothing.”

The green festive scene depicts many of Newcastle and Gateshead’s most notable landmarks, including the Angel of the North, the Sage and Alan Shearer, and has been attracting large numbers of visitors to view the spectacle.

“Lots of people have been stopping and looking, and its great for us to show off our own creativity.” he continued. “ We are based in Gateshead’s ‘creative quarter’, and the architecture around is a real inspiration, so it was apt that the display mirrors what Newcastle and Gateshead have to offer.”

Miniature QR codes of all the clients who donated card have also been embedded into the display, adding an unusual and innovative twist.

“This means that passers by with smart phones can scan them to see who has donated to the display,” Andy adds.

All card donated will be recycled, and Andy hopes that the unusual display will now add to Intimation’s strong reputation within the creative design market.

“The company is already growing quickly in the North East, and I believe this is due to our unwavering focus on our client’s needs.” he concludes. “We are going from strength to strength, and I believe this is due to our determination to get it right, first time.”
