Trio of catering competitors join forces.

The region’s biggest kitchen equipment competitors have joined forces after the appointment of the latest members.

Upnorth Group headhunted Tom Cummings from their previous competitor Howell-Cummings to join their Food Service Equipment as a field sales executive.

Tom brings 40 years of experience with him to the company, in a move which follows the merger of commercial catering equipment firm Quay Catering Solutions with Upnorth Food Service Equipment in September 2012.

The Group is now the united provider of all UK catering equipment, and Tom now hopes to bring in even bigger contracts.

He commented: “The difference from this time last year provides us with exciting prospects for the future now that we are all working together.

“Our combined contacts, strengths and experience will help grow the business to the next level, increasing the service and sales of the catering equipment side of the business.”

The Food Equipment Services division is now on target to double its turnover in 2012, creating further North East jobs.

Richard Toye, director of Upnorth Food Service Equipment, said: “Where we can, we always look to employ or contract staff from the region. We have a lot of ambition for the business including looking to further the consultancy side.

“Being a member of many organisations including NECTA (North East Culinary Trade Association), LACA (Local Authority Catering Association) and HCA (Hospital Catering Association) the addition of Tom will help us to gel our experiences together which will open up more opportunities for us.

The Group is also a member of the Food Consultant Service Industries, which enables then to be prominent in major projects and develop the energy saving side of the catering division.
