Sleeperz opening creates jobs for Newcastle
Sleeperz Hotel Newcastle has finally opened its doors to the public, creating 25 jobs in the process.
The hotel, which has been built on the former Parcel Works site on Westgate Road, is the first premium budget design-led hotel in the city.
Chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels believes that the brand fills a gap in the region’s hotel market, and is well positioned for business and leisure tourism markets in the current economy.
He commented: Sleeperz Hotel Newcastle is affordable and stylish, it’s convenient and comfortable. It’s functional and desirable.
“We are offering a modern urban living experience, in the heart of the North East’s most cosmopolitan city, at great value rates.”
Boutique hotel owner and interior design expert Janine Powell, who owns the Hamptons Hotel in Ilfracombe, Devon, has been hired as a consultant to advise on the project and create an air of sophisticated vibrancy at Sleeperz Newcastle.
David Myers said: “Newcastle is not just the capital of North East England; it’s a thriving visitor destination and a great city for business and conferences.”
Newcastle’s hotel sector is among the highest performing of any UK city, according to the latest figures from destination marketing agency NewcastleGateshead Initiative and national tourist board Visit England.
The company has plans to expand and Sleeperz has earmarked major UK cities, including Liverpool, Manchester and London as potential venues for hotels in the next phase of development.
